Turtle Embraces Electrification Internally and Externally

-

For Turtle, a $1 billion global leader in electrical distribution, industrial automation, supply chain solutions, and energy management, prioritizing flexibility in an ever-changing industry is top of mind. Throughout its 101-year tenure, Turtle has adjusted its customer-facing solutions in tandem with an internal review of how it can integrate sustainability into all aspects of its operations.

Globally, the push towards adopting electrification technologies is a response to the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. By integrating renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydrogen, Turtle is advancing a more sustainable future and attracting environmentally conscious customers.

“Sustainable Innovation has become one of our key pillars of Turtle. The company is 1,000 employees strong, made up of people who are dedicated to solving some of the most urgent issues in sustainability, like clean energy alternatives and reducing carbon emissions to combat climate change. We want to continue to position ourselves as thought leaders for our customers as their demands accelerate alongside the industry,” Jayne Millard, co-CEO and Executive Chairman of Turtle said.

Understanding the latest trends in electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy sources, and smart microgrid technologies has been at the forefront of Turtle’s focus over the past year.

“Our goal is to be a resource for our customers and partners and to provide educational programs to make introductions to existing and new technologies that will help meet industry sustainability goals,” Millard said.

Turtle’s success in the electrification landscape is heavily entrenched in its collaborative approach with partners, manufacturers, and experts to help their customers migrate to more sustainable operations. Through co-branded marketing campaigns with partners such as CharePoint and GenCell, events, webinars, and live demonstrations, the company showcases the growing capabilities and benefits of electric technologies.

Beatrice Clark, Director of Sustainability and Social Impact and 5th generation of Turtle leadership, said this new movement is just putting a label on what the company has been doing for decades.

“While sustainability poses both challenges and growth opportunities, as a distributor, Turtle occupies an interesting position in the supply chain. There are well-documented strategies

for decarbonizing facilities and fleets that we are pursuing, but where we can make the biggest difference is with our partners, some of which are large manufacturers who are looking for assistance on their own decarbonization journeys,” Clark said.

Luis Valls, co-CEO and President of Turtle, highlights that Turtle’s commitment to sustainability is weaved throughout their whole business.

“We talk about how renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and hydrogen are becoming more prominent alongside electrification as the keys to a sustainable future. At the same time, we’re witnessing our customers become more environmentally conscious. By showcasing our commitment to sustainability through electrification efforts, we can enhance our brand image and attract more customers and like-minded talent into the organization,” Valls said. “We keep up with industry trends and remain flexible because electrification is rapidly evolving, and we are prepared to adapt to new technologies and regulations that are emerging to better serve our customers in the industry.”

Electrification is poised to have a transformative impact on businesses over the next decade, reshaping industries, creating new opportunities, and driving sustainable economic growth. Turtle is at the forefront of this transformation, leveraging its expertise and strategic partnerships to drive electrification forward. With a commitment to Sustainable Innovation and Radical Collaboration, Turtle is not only meeting the immediate needs of electrification but paving the way to advance a cleaner, more sustainable future.
