WEST CALDWELL, N.J. — Team members from MaxLite raised $4,000 for the fight against breast cancer through their participation in the Making Strides of Parsippany walk on October 18, 2015.
Employees of the energy-efficient lighting manufacturer walked under the team name “MaxLite On A Mission” in the 5K event held at the Mack-Cali Business Campus in Parsippany, New Jersey. The annual walk drew15,000 participants from across the region who raised more than $720,000 to help the American Cancer Society save lives from breast cancer by funding breast cancer research and providing free comprehensive information, support and services to those who are currently dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, those who may face a diagnosis in the future, and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether thanks to education and prevention. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation.
MaxLite team members put their creativity to work by staging fundraisers leading up to the event such as “Mani Monday,” during which employees received manicures in exchange for their donations, and “Powerful In Pink Friday,” which encouraged employees to wear pink to work and enter a raffle for Making Strides t-shirts and other prizes. The company provided a match to the donations of MaxLite employees and their friends and family members. This marked the first year MaxLite participated in Making Strides.
