The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded Lutron Electronics’ Commercial Experience Center in Washington, DC with LEED Gold Certification. The USGBC uses LEED as a rating system that awards points to buildings that meet certain green and energy-efficiency standards.
According to a Lutron news release, “The Experience Center was designed by DC-based architectural firm Interplan Incorporated to achieve LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies.”
The USBC gave the Lutron Experience Center 63 out of a possible 110 points. Lutron’s products earned 19 of the 63 total points. According to the company, “Lutron products can help contribute up to 41 points on a project, making them effective, energy-saving solutions for any space.”
Andy Wakefield, director of government relations at Lutron, said, “Knowing that our products contributed not only to our Gold certification, but to dozens of other building certifications throughout the country, shows how impactful Lutron products and solutions can be to a building’s control strategy.”
