WASHINGTON, D.C. — Friday, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Grid Deployment Office (GDO) announced a restructured leadership team, including the departure of Director Nick Elliot to the National Energy Dominance Council, where he will serve as Senior Policy Advisor. The office will now be led by previous Senior Advisor Tina Francone.
Under this new leadership and in support of President Trump’s Executive Order, “Strengthening the Reliability and Security of the United States Electric Grid,” GDO will focus on strengthening U.S. grid reliability, security, and affordability. This includes exercising all lawful authorities to catalyze development of the critical infrastructure needed to strengthen the nation’s grid.
Since its inception, the GDO has worked to address electricity challenges by supporting the development of new and upgraded electric infrastructure, maintaining and investing in generation facilities such as nuclear energy, and facilitating the deployment of high-capacity electric transmission lines nationwide.
Ms. Francone brings extensive experience in the business, local government, and infrastructure sectors to GDO. As Director, she will provide strategic direction and guidance on the office’s approach to critical capacity and grid expansion.
