The Good Stuff, Vol. 117

Welcome to “The Good Stuff,” where we highlight positive news and ways that NAED employees and member companies go above and beyond to give back to their communities! If you have some “Good Stuff” that you would like to share with tED, find out how below.

In this issue of The Good Stuff, Schneider Electric and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville dedicated their first solar home in Cheatham County, Tennessee.

Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation for energy management and automation, joined Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville in celebrating the dedication of Habitat of Greater Nashville’s first solar built home for a qualified Habitat homeowner, who will live here and enjoy the benefits of this sustainable home located in Cheatham County, Tennessee.

This future ready home pairs solar panels mounted on the roof with modern technology from Schneider Electric, including a Homeline load center and sub panel, Schneider Pulse backup controller, Schneider Inverter, Schneider Boost battery, and a Square D Surge Protection Device (SPDs) since to increase safety, energy resiliency, and efficiency, helping to reduce the financial burden of rising costs on those already facing financial challenges. Even though Habitat of Greater Nashville is a consecutive award-winning sustainable ENERGY STAR® certified builder, studies have found that in market-built homes, low- to moderate-income households can spend three times more of their income on energy costs compared to the median spending of non-low-income households.

“Schneider Electric’s partnership with Habitat of Greater Nashville allows us to help empower families in our community by bridging progress and sustainability for a better future,” said Ken Engel, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain-Web Giants, Schneider Electric. “In dedicating this home, we see the benefits of that partnership realized for this new homeowner today and the positive impact that it will have for them and their community in the future.”

Schneider Electric has partnered with Habitat for Humanity for more than 30 years, donating more than $70M in financial and product donations across the U.S., as well as thousands of employee volunteer hours annually to support affordable housing for Habitat families across North America. Schneider Electric employs more than 21,000 people around the country, including over 2,200 employees across Tennessee with offices in Franklin and Memphis, and manufacturing operations in Smyrna, Mt. Juliet, and Maryville.

“Habitat for Humanity and Schneider Electric have a shared commitment of building stronger communities over the years, including here in the Greater Nashville area,” said Lauren Payne, SVP of Philanthropy for Habitat of Greater Nashville. “We appreciate their partnership and are proud to be together today opening the doors to this new solar home and opening a better future for this homeowner.”

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The organization, a 14-time EPA ENERGY STAR® award winner for Sustained Excellence in Affordable Housing, has built, renovated, or recycled 1,073 homes across five counties, serving 3,641 family members, including 2,277 children. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. For more information, visit www.habitatnashville.org.
