Rexel USA and United Electric: Electrification Problems and Solutions

-

Onshoring, EV charging stations, and clean energy are just a few of the ways that the United States is moving towards electrification. This transition is creating a large demand for electrical distribution as issues arise.

“I am seeing our buildings investing in increased electrification, but this is being paired with an aging electrical grid.  We’ll start to see increased power quality issues across the country as this trend continues.  There are a lot of updates that need to happen within our electrical infrastructure to combat this,” Will DeSantis, product manager for United Electric, said.

Building electrification is increasing faster than grid upgrades, causing power issues within these buildings. Recently, companies have been installing smart switches that know when more and when less power is needed for a building.

“We are seeing more products that are developed that become smarter about how we consume power,” Jordan Grimm, area manager for Rexel USA in Southern Colorado, said.

No one solution can solve the climate crisis. Integrating various innovative solutions, beyond just wind or solar power, has begun to gain popularity.

“As we start to integrate AI technology into how we create and conserve power, you’re going to see even more products that we can offer to add value not only to homeowners but also to industrial power plants, commercial buildings, and creative utilities starting to rely on local power production to support a community,” Grimm said.

Grimm adds that the demand for Rexel USA products is at an all-time high. Rexel USA has made it a priority to distinguish who the right manufacturer is while taking in factors such as the lifespan of a product.

“Beyond just having the products that the customers need to electrify, a big part of that is choosing the right manufacturer that will add value to the customer,” Grimm said.

United Electric has a dedicated Digital Power team that is designing and integrating energy and power management systems for their customers.

“With this electrification trend and the sustainability goals companies are enacting across their buildings, our end users are investing in a platform to give them the data on their energy usage and power quality throughout their electrical network.  We’ve invested heavily in our Digital Power group to be able to implement these systems for our customers,” DeSantis said. “We also are investing in our designing capabilities around power quality correction devices, so when our customers are beginning to receive the data on the electrical issues in their facilities, we have the subject matter experts to engineer them the right solution to clean their power.”

United Electric has focused on providing support to these businesses to reach their goals of sustainability.

“Electrification has become a large portion of our business that provides these energy and power management systems and these power quality mitigation systems. So anytime, I’m happy to be able to assist in this trend of electrification and sell these systems that enhance that journey for customers,” DeSantis said.

Similarly, Grimm emphasized the importance of electrification in day-to-day lives.

“Electrification has become a huge part of our day-to-day lives and we’re [Rexel USA] a big part of making sure that that infrastructure is in place working,” Grimm said.
